The 2005 Summer Gala was held on the weekend of Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st August.

We had lots of passengers each day and 7 locomotives in use on the Saturday.   Trains ran as advertised from 10.30 in the morning until after 10 at night on the Saturday and 10.30 am to 5pm on Sunday.
Here are some pictures by Sam Felce that give a flavour of the event.
"Templecombe" is an electric locomotive and visited the Railway from Oxfordshire for the weekend. These two pictures show "Templecombe" with the riding truck and two mineral wagons starting the descent from Weir End to Bridge Junction.
Another visiting loco from Oxford was No. 11, an 0-6-0T (live steam) locomotive here being driven by Chris Wilson whilst the owner, Simon Cole acts as Guard. Our resident battery electric locomotive seen here in its Class 20 variant did sterling work shunting wagons around at the start and end of each day as well as hauling some passenger trains
"Titan" is seen here hauling our new articulated wagon set from Smith's Knoll station. The driver is the Railway's owner, Pete Smith and the Guard is Jack Taylor.  The wagons share the middle bogie and are vacuum braked. "Titan" and the new wagons again but top and tailed with No.11 and the mineral wagons.  The train is fully vacuum braked.
As darkness fell the trains kept rolling.  All the signals are lit and trains carried head and tail lights.  "River Fal" is seen here at Riveside Junction on a top and tailed train.

No. 11 sits at Smith's Knoll station ready for the night's work.

No.11 with a full head of steam waits for the signal as the moon comes up behind the train

"Titan" and Driver James Aston on the turntable at Weir End about to run round the train, AND FINALLY, "Titan" ready to depart Weir End with a train of Empty Coaching Stock

The Team at Tretheake Mill Railway would like to say a big "thank you" to all of the passengers who came and also the visiting locos and their crews.  We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

On Saturday 18th June 2005 we had a visit from Dave Woods and his friend from Yorkshire with their blue Romulus loco.

Pictured here approaching "Greenhouse Crossing" from "Smith's Knoll" are
John Ferrier on Asterix
Andy Crawford on Kathleen
Dave Woods on the blue Romulus
and Roger James on "our" Romulus "Titan".

They are pulling a 3 wagon train with "Minor" the battery electric loco on the rear.  What the steam loco drivers didn't know was that the regenerative brakes were on on the electric loco so the faster the train went it became a lot harder to pull. We did manage to recharge the batteries though!
