We have four resident locos but
frequently get others visiting for the day |

"Titan"
is an 0-4-0 Romulus narrow gauge loco. This loco was built by the Railway's owner. The engine was finished in 1996, being matched with a new tender two years ago. It has travelled to quite a few railways in the UK including a visit to Northern Ireland. "Titan" is being driven here by Sam, one of the team who build, maintain and run Tretheake Mill Railway. |
| "Asterix"
is also an 0-4-0 narrow gauge loco, based on an original French design which
was a very powerful loco for its size. It is named after the cartoon
character, there is a degree of resemblance. Here being driven by Jonathan with John, the owner, on the wagon. "Asterix" has side tanks but the water feed is taken from the riding truck behind the loco. John bought "Asterix" from the builder and its small size makes it ideal to fit in the boot of an estate car. |

| "Diesel"
No 1. This is the loco that built the railway.
It was built here and has shifted many, many tons of stone, rail, sleepers
and ballast for the construction of the railway. "Diesel" is actually a petrol-hydraulic with electric start. It has an air-cooled Briggs & Stratton engine and is a bit noisy when running and is now less reliable but has done tremendous work with minimal maintenance. We hope to re-engine it in the future. After the "abuse" that "Diesel" has faced over the years it really is remarkable that it keeps going at all! |

"Minor"
is one of our newest loco and was built in 2003 by Geoff Kitts and Rachael Wilson
but is owned by Chris Wilson. The design is based on an underground
mine loco with simplicity in mind. Powered by an electric motor from 2
traction batteries under the green box. The body and floor can be
changed to one of a more conventional design. Unfortunately the motor
control system supplied with basic kit has proved very unreliable. Hopefully, "Minor" will take over infrastructure trains and shunting trains from "Diesel". |

"River
Fal" joined the Railway in May 2004. It uses the same chassis as Minor above but the batteries are repositioned to move the centre of gravity nearer the centre. The body work is based on English Electric's Class 20 diesel electric locomotive but the proportions have been altered to make it narrow gauge. The loco has a basic sound system which reproduces the distinctive sound of the class. Full size Loco No 20166 "River Fowey" is based at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway and worked on the Channel Tunnel construction |
